We are beloved spirit daughters of God, and our lives have meaning, purpose, and direction.  As a worldwide sisterhood, we are united in our
devotion to Jesus Christ, our Savior and Exemplar.  We are women of faith, virtue, vision, and charity who:

  • Increase our testimonies of Jesus Christ through prayer and scripture study.
  • Seek spiritual strength by following the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
  • Dedicate ourselves to strengthening marriages, families, and homes.
  • Find nobility in motherhood and joy in womanhood.
  • Delight in service and good works.
  • Love life and learning.
  • Stand for truth and righteousness.
  • Sustain the priesthood as the authority of God on earth.
  • Rejoice in the blessings of the temple, understand our divine destiny, and strive for exaltation.

Both individually and collectively sisters of Relief Society make a difference in these six ways:

  • Build faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and teach the doctrines of the kingdom (see 2 Nephi 31:20-21; Omni 1:26).
  • Emphasize the divine worth of each sister (see D&C 25:2-3, 15-16; Moses 6:9).
  • Exercise charity and nurture those in need (See Mosiah 4:26; Moroni 7:46-48).
  • Strengthen and protect families (see Mosiah 4:14-15; D&C 130:2).
  • Serve and support each sister (see 1 Corinthians 12:13-27).
  • Help sisters become full participants in the blessings of the priesthood (see D&C 66:2; 84:35-39; Moses 5:1).

These are the objectives of Relief Society. They show the vastness of its purpose and the breadth of its mission, and they define the sisters, setting
them apart from all other associations.

                                    THE ARTICLES OF FAITH
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp. 535—541
1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by
immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and
    administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to
    the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American
continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship
how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—
We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of
good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Relief Society Declaration
This Is the Testimony, Last of All
"He whose birth we commemorate this season is more than the symbol of a holiday. He is the Son of God, the
Creator of the earth, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, the fulfillment of the Law of Moses, the Redeemer
of mankind, the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace. . . .
" 'And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which
we give of him: That he lives!
" 'For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only
Begotten of the Father-" 'That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and
the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God.' (D&C 76:22-24).""This is our testimony
to all mankind. It is our gift and blessing to the world. He is our joy and our salvation, and we will find
Christmas of greater meaning in our own lives as we share these truths with others. Gordon B. Hinckley
